UPPER NAPO RIVER

"GATE TO THE RAINFOREST"

Rainforest adventure and comfortable accommodations on the Rio Napo near Tena. This part of the Ecuadorian rain forest is only 3 hours drive southwest of the capital Quito and was one of the first Amazonian settlement areas. The rivers Napo and Misahualli flow together here and it is an attractive starting point for exciting short trips in the rainforest. This area is home to more than 500 species of birds, big cats, butterflies, monkeys, fish, snakes and insects. Only a very small part of the population lives here, including the native tribes of Achuar, Cofan, Huaorani and Quichua.

“The Gateway to the Amazon” can score with an undisturbed jungle ambience. Explore this reserve with foot, dugout, raft or kayak excursions and be amazed by the impressive biodiversity of the rainforest that already starts here!

Housed in rainforest lodges that vary by standard between simple and luxurious. Most lodges offer hot water and hammock opportunities for daily visitors such as hummingbirds, shorebirds and kingfishers, and lots of butterflies and insects. Some of these jungle hotels can only be reached by canoe and / or plane, so arrival is not possible on any day of the week. An optimal stay of 3 to 5 days will allow you to explore with your local guides the closer and wider surroundings of the lodge!

As we are very close to nature and the people of Ecuador, we offer you stays in rainforest lodges that work with the locals and value sustainability in their work.

We are happy to advise you about the different possibilities!
